Cube Study 1
An exploration of minimal geometry and pure volume.
Materials: wood, stainless steel
Dimensions: 96×96×110mm
Weight: 0.5KG
Designed in 2025
The search for form begins with a solid Sapele timber cube. Its core is precision-milled, creating a cylindrical cavity that houses a removable, flanged stainless steel vessel. This internal chamber establishes a structural hierarchy within the primary volume.
A solid stainless steel cube is inset into a corner of the Sapele chassis. Elevated above the timber surface, its top features a diagonal semi-circular groove—a resting point for a cigar. This intersection of wood and steel establishes a sense of visual and physical weight.
A martensitic stainless steel disc serves as a lid. An aperture provides a finger-access point for removal. The disc is designed to be magnetically docked to the side of the timber block when not in use, held in place by a dual-magnet structure.
