V-rod
Industrial logic as aesthetic.
Materials: Found Aerospace Artefact, Precision-machined Stainless Steel, Brass
Designed in 2025
Limited edition of 2, Series: 01 / 02
An aircraft duct fitting reclaimed from an airframe—this industrial part has been repurposed as a heavy-duty desktop object. A removable stainless steel cup sits inside the main aperture to collect ash. Ease of maintenance is fundamental to the design.
A laser-cut stainless steel bracket is fitted around the main aperture, extending over the two ducts. A sliding brass cigar rest is mounted on this rail; using a slotted aperture and locking screws, the position can be adjusted for various cigar gauges. Two stainless steel flange connectors are fitted at the terminus of the ducts.
Hand-polished and machined surfaces are set against the raw, as-cast texture of the base. This juxtaposition creates a stable equilibrium and emphasizes the object's materiality.
